Amos lives with his mother and older sister in the Soweto slums in Kahawa Nairobi, Kenya. His parents have been separated for 7 years and his father has refused to take responsibility for the family. This led to his mother raising the children alone and taking any odd jobs to support the family. One day when his mother was at work, she had an accident and her back was severely injured. This injury resulted in her not being able to do most of the jobs she did before to provide for the family. In the neighborhood where Amos lives there is a lot of drug abuse, especially banging and alcoholism. Crime is very high, mainly because of the high school dropout rate.
Amos’ dream is to become a professional soccer player and compete internationally for Kenya. He has loved playing soccer since he was little and would love to turn his passion into a career. It is a wonderful way to make new friends and get closer to people and cultures from all over the world. His favorite color is black. Amos would love to go back to school, graduate and chase his dream.
