Elvis lives with his parents and a younger brother in the Soweto slums of Nairobi, Kenya. Due to an illness, his father is currently unemployed and the small family depends on the small income of his mother. The latter tries to keep the family afloat with odd jobs such as washing clothes and cleaning households. Due to the difficult situation at home, the mood is very tense and Elvis does not feel well.
Elvis’ dream is to become a driver. He loves cars and trains and thinks it is great to be woken up every morning by a passing train and its loud horns. His favorite color is green, as he associates the color with nature and trees. Elvis would love to go back to school. He especially misses the writing and painting lessons.
