Peter lives with his mother and three brothers in the Soweto slums in Nairobi, Kenya. His father died two years ago due to an illness unknown to them. Since then, his mother has had to support the family alone, trying to feed her children through odd jobs. Peter and his younger brother had to change schools frequently in the past because their mother could no longer afford the fees. Due to the difficult time caused by the pandemic, there are fewer and fewer opportunities to generate income and the family depends on benefactors from the neighborhood.
Peter’s dream is to become a mechanic. He loves it when neighbors bring broken electronics to him, which he then repairs in exchange for food. In his free time, he loves to play soccer with his friends, strengthening friendships. His favorite color is green, as it symbolizes nature. Peter would incredibly like to go back to school, have new experiences and get closer to his dream through education.
