Rebecca lives with her mother and three siblings in the Soweto slums in Nairobi, Kenya. Her parents separated when she was only five months old. Her father never took responsibility for the children and did not help feed them. After the separation, her father left the slum and they never heard or saw him again. Their mother tries to keep the family afloat by selling food. If the income is not enough, she also tries to wash clothes for others or work as a cleaner. Until a few years ago, they were financially supported by her grandfather, but after his death, this help has also fallen away.
Rebecca’s dream is to become a fashion designer. She loves to give people a new self-confidence through clothes and help them feel strong and beautiful. She loves her family more than anything in the world and is very grateful for the love and support she receives from her mother. Her favorite color is pink, as she thinks it is cute. Rebecca would incredibly love to go back to school, spend time with her friends and learn new things.
